Overview

The XML Summer School is now over - plans for the XML Summer School 2007 are under way. Please keep checking the website for further information.

The XML Summer School, hosted by CSW Group, is far more than an XML training course. This five-day residential course, the seventh annual event held by CSW, brings together delegates from across the world to learn and gain practical experience of XML and related technologies from some of the world's leading industry experts at the University of Oxford.

The curriculum is devised for maximum learning; we understand that many delegates come to the XML Summer School with business questions that need answering. The curriculum runs with three tracks, to provide a rich and specific learning experience for delegates with any level of background knowledge. Each track is broken into seminars which cover topics in-dept.This year these include:

The Full Summer School Package - This option allows you to combine lessons from any track. Includes 5 nights accommodation, all meals, refreshments and evening excursions.

Hands-on Introduction - This is appropriate for newcomers or delegates that want to brush up on their skills. The topics will include:

Technical Track - This offers an opportunity to explore topics in more technical detail, aimed at a more technical audience. The topics will include:

Applications Track - This focuses on the use of XML and related technologies in specific market sectors. Aimed at delegates who need to apply the latest tools and techniques. The topics will include:

Teaching at Oxford is based on the tutorial system, where students can combine formal lectures with time spent in small groups, with tutors expert in their chosen subjects. The XML Summer School follows this model and aims to provide delegates with a unique opportunity to sample the life of an undergraduate at Oxford University.

In addition to five invaluable days of learning, there is also time for relaxation and excursions in the beautiful historic University City. The social events provide the ideal platform for networking with your fellow delegates or extracting information from the speakers on a one-to-one basis. If you happen to be sitting next to Bob DuCharme whilst punting down the river Cherwell why not use this time to put to him your questions about XSLT. Some delegates argue that the networking and learning experiences outside the classroom are as valuable as that in the classroom.

Accommodation in student rooms at Wadham College is included in the course fee for those attending the full XML Summer School or the two-day courses such as the Hands-on Introduction to XML and XML in Healthcare. This gives delegates the opportunity to experience student life at first hand, at one of the world's greatest seats of learning.
